Boulder Run Day Use

Great minds discuss ideas!

At our recent first Foothills Métis District Council meeting we decided to hold a potluck-style meeting at Boulder Run Campground. The water at the site is non-potable, so please be sure to bring some with you, along with a contribution to the potluck.

Foothills Métis District Potluck
Sunday, 29 June 2025 @ 2pm
Boulder Run Campground

This potluck is open to all Métis Citizens in Foothills Métis District, and will likely be our last chance to socialize and brainstorm before the summer break, unless an urgent special meeting is called. At this meeting we will plan events for the summer, like the Whoop-Up Days Parade in Lethbridge, and our own Métis Fest and AGM, presently tentatively scheduled to be held a the campground in Enchant in September.

Please take some time to consider joining a committee to assist with planning and carrying out plans for events and other activities in our district! We are currently setting organizing the following committees:

  • Community and Culture Committee – get involved with planning events and applying for grants with proposals for events such as Louis Riel Day, Aboriginal Week, District Métis Fest, Annual Rendezvous, Christmas and Holiday celebrations, etc.
  • Historical Committee – our history is significant, not just to us but also to our nation and to Canada. It has been said that the Métis were not in southern Alberta before the arrival of the Northwest Mounted Police. We say different, and we need people to help gather, document, and publish that history and the evidence to support it.
  • Métis Housing Committee – there is a demonstrated need for Métis housing in our district, for families, for elders, and safe housing for women who have been victims of abuse and for youth at risk. Our Citizen’s Representative has been working on this, and he needs help to organize and coordinate such initiatives.

We look forward to seeing you at the potluck, and getting our district organized in a good way! You can click here or the map below for directions. If you have any questions about the event or need help getting there, please call the office at 403-904-0144 or contact our District Captain Guy L’Heureux at 403-634-8662.
